M-Line is - and always has been - a family-owned business. It’s at the heart of what we do and how we conduct ourselves internally and with customers.
We get a lot of interest in how our business started and how it’s grown since then, so I wanted to share a little more about our history and what I think makes us so unique.
My parents, John and Rosemary Mihacevich, started M-Line in 1987 out of our home and rented some public warehouse space to store inventory. John spent his time with customers and working on new business, while Rosemary handled the accounting.
Nick always worked in the business while he was in high school and then through college before starting full-time in sales in 1993. I (Dan) started full-time in 1997.
We’ve grown and expanded a lot since then, and our office space can no longer fit in a spare bedroom. But what hasn’t changed is the way we follow and live our core values every day:
At M-Line, we work hard every day knowing that we’re building something for ourselves, our family and for our employees and their families. But on a larger scale, and just as important, when we do our jobs to the best of our ability, we are helping grow and add value to all of our customers and partner suppliers as well.
Many of our customers today have been with us since we started more than 30 years ago. We treat our customers so they get the sense that we truly care about them and their business.
Our family members also have strong relationships directly with many of our customers and suppliers, giving us a clear picture of their needs. Through these relationships, we can adapt as needed and put more resources toward better serving our customers.
As for our employees, we definitely have a small family feel – not a large corporate environment where people are just a number. Our employees are like family to us.
As I mentioned before, M-Line has seen many changes over the years, but we still follow the same core values we always have. Here’s a quick look at how we’ve grown:
1987: M-Line is incorporated by John and Rosemary; they work out of their home office and rent warehouse space
1994: M-Line leases its first truck and hires a full-time delivery driver
1996: M-Line opens its first warehouse and office, totaling 5,000 sq. ft.
2004: M-Line expands its warehouse to 18,000 sq. ft.
2008: M-Line is ISO Certified
2009: M-Line acquires United and Pittsburgh Packaging
2012: M-Line moves into a new facility with 90,000 sq. ft.
2017: M-Line acquires Lemac Akron
